Stop Targeting Civilians and Civilian Installations
Targeting civilian infrastructure, especially installations of water and power, is a war crime in the international humanitarian law.
It is the responsibility of the SRF not to use drones to target civilian installations as what has taken place in many cities in the Nile and Northern States and Khartoum. They should distinguish between military installations and the civilian infrastructure that services civilians. We have condemned before SAF in using indiscriminate bombardment by the army Air Force, targeting civilians in villages and towns. It is equally a war crime. What happened today in Omdurman, targeting civilians by the RSF, is a war crime, and it is documented and videotaped by the very ones who committed it.
The biggest war crimes in this war are committed against civilians who have no protections after two years in war. The second equally big crime is the looting of museums, national archives and research centers, especially looting of the Sudan National Museum. We should safeguard the historical memory of Sudan’s history and our people’s and land contributions in human history for over 8,000 years. We call again to form a national legal committee that would follow on the rare antiquities that were looted from the museum and are being sold outside Sudan as well as forming a national committee for the protection of civilians that can bring the pro civilian and democracy forces, regardless of their differences, in these crucial matters.
